We all know how good running can be for our health & fitness but if the thought of plodding along for hours every week fills you with dread, or you just want to try something different then SPRINT TRAINING could be a great option for you...
What is it?
Shorter, higher intensity bursts of running at full speed anywhere from 50 - 400 metres and repeated multiple rounds with long rest periods.
Benefits Of Sprint Training:
Boosts cardiovascular fitness and VO2 Max
Develops speed and power
Shorter, quicker sessions
Effective form of HIIT Training
Can be done outside or on a treadmill.
Great for sports such as football, netball, rugby & athletics
Example Session I did this week (posted on my Instagram):
2 x 400m (60 secs rest between each)
4 x 200m (90 secs rest between each)
8 x 100m (120 secs rest between each)
Approx 30 - 40 minutes total time.
Get your running shoes on and give it a try this week - make sure you warm up thoroughly first.
TOP TIP: Try racing with a friend or time yourself on your watch and see if you can beat your times for added motivation. 9.58 seconds is world record for 100m and we were definitely close lol 😆🤥
