This week we hosted a 'Netwalking' event here at our Fit with Frank barn, in collaboration with the brilliant team at RH Networking. A morning of fresh air, good chat and new connections, oh, and rain. Lots of rain.
Did that stop us? Absolutely not.
'Cos here's the thing, getting outside and moving with other people is genuinely good for you. Not "nice if you can manage it" good. Properly, scientifically good.
People who spend at least two hours a week in nature are more likely to report better health and wellbeing than those who spend none. That's two hours. You're probably spending longer than that on email. Mayo Clinic Press
Why walking AND talking is a bit of a cheat code
You're moving your body. You're in nature. You're having real conversations with real humans. That's three wins in one go, without a gym membership or a PowerPoint in sight.
Some of the best ideas, connections and conversations happen when you're side by side on a footpath rather than facing each other across a meeting room table. There's a reason people swear by the "walking meeting."
Quick tips to get more of this in your life
Swap your coffee catch-up for a walking one. Same conversation, better results
Even 20–30 minutes in a green space has been shown to meaningfully boost mental wellbeing Mayo Clinic Press
Can't find a buddy? Headphones + a podcast + fresh air still beats sitting still
Make it a habit, not a treat, your brain will thank you
For the businesses reading this…
If you've got a team, in the office, remote or somewhere in between — movement and connection aren't soft extras. They're productivity tools. Stressed, isolated employees cost businesses real money. Getting people outside and together costs almost nothing.
We work with local businesses and HR teams to create active wellbeing experiences that actually get people off their chairs and feeling good. Corporate walking events, team wellness sessions, outdoor challenges, whatever fits your team.
If that sounds like something your workplace could use, let's have a chat. (Ideally a walking one.) 📩 [frank@fitwithfrank.co.uk] | fitwithfrank.co.uk
Hope this helps and any questions at all, you know where I am!
