I've successfully passed my GLP-1 Certification Course. 🎉

A new online course I began studying earlier this year and finally finished on my sun lounger in Fuerteventura - between slurps of my Sangria - and it felt like the good time to share a blog with my learnings...
Why I did the GLP-1 Certification
Honestly, so many of my clients, and literally MILLIONS of general population are on GLP-1 medication now that I feel I need to do my best to understand them more, and although I'm not a doctor, so I'll never prescribe, or advise anyone to use (or not use) GLP-1 - I do feel confident that whatever stage you're at (just starting, mid-journey, or coming off it) I know how to support you safely.
What GLP-1 means for your fitness plan
The good news it that the course didn't teach me anything new about fitness, and mainly confirmed that the stuff I already coach every day is exactly what you need if you're on the jabs too. Turns out the "boring basics" are boring for a reason. They just... work.
Top 3 Focus Areas When Using GLP-1
1. Strength training
This one's non-negotiable. Whether you're on GLP-1s or not, lifting weights is how you protect your muscle and your strength as the weight comes off. The jabs help you eat less, but they don't care whether what you're losing is fat or muscle. That part's on you (and me).
2. Protein
Getting enough protein is critical for supporting muscle growth and when your appetite's suppressed, it's easy to under-eat protein without realising. Small, consistent choices matter here more than ever.
3. Hydration
This one comes up more than people expect. Side effects like nausea and appetite changes can quietly knock your hydration off track, and that affects everything from energy, recovery, how you feel in a session. Simple fix, easy to forget.
Should you be worried about muscle wastage?
Honestly, it's a valid concern, and I don't want to dismiss it. But it's also completely manageable. Strength training and proper nutrition alongside the medication massively reduce that risk. You're not powerless here. There's loads you can do, and that's exactly where I come in.
My message to you
If you're on the jabs, keep going.
You're doing something for the right reasons, and that counts for a lot. Nobody does this perfectly, so don't chase perfect. Just keep stacking the boring basics: move well, lift weights, eat your protein, drink your water.
Take one step at a time.
Same old boring stuff. Still works. đź’Ş
