We've Got a Defibrillator at the Barn ❤️ ...and I Hope We Never Use It!

Big news from the barn this week, and for once it's got nothing to do with squatting or lunging (phew lol). We now have our very own AED defibrillator on site. Properly installed, ready to go, ideally never touched.

Last month I took on the London to Brighton bike ride to raise the funds for exactly this, and you wonderful humans kindly donated, shared, cheered me on, and got me up every single hill along the way. So before anything else: thank you ❤️

Why It Matters More Than You'd Think

Here's the honest truth: most people don't think about this stuff until they need it. I get it, nobody wants to imagine an emergency happening at the place they come to feel strong and healthy, but the reality is the numbers are sobering - there are over 40,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK every single year.

But here's the bit that gives me real peace of mind: getting a defibrillator to someone within 3-5 minutes of a cardiac arrest can increase their chance of survival by over 40%. That's not a small difference, that's the gap between a tragedy and a second chance.

Where to Find It

Next time you're in for a session, have a look around: it'll be mounted and clearly signed in the barn. You don't need training to use one, by the way. Modern defibrillators talk you through every step, but knowing it's there - and knowing roughly where - could make all the difference if it's ever needed.

The Bit That Matters Most

This whole thing exists because this community showed up for me, the same way you show up to every session. That's not lost on me.

So thank you again - genuinely. Here's hoping this defibrillator just sits quietly in its cabinet, doing nothing, for years to come. If it's ever needed, we're ready. And that's down to you.

See you in the barn. 💪
